Dr. Chris Brown (of Bondi Vet fame), visited Surf Lakes with the Channel 10 crew to film an episode of the popular prime time lifestyle series ‘The Living Room’. During his visit, Chris linked up with Surf Lakes’ ambassador, Sam Bloom. Sam showed him the ropes and by the end of his visit, Chris had enjoyed some epic rides on the beachie, and Occy’s peak. The Creek to Coast team ventured up to Yeppoon in an episode of the popular Channel 7 show. Towing Vision RVs, Matthew Hayden and his family road-tripped from Double Island Point up to Yeppoon to test the amazing waves of Surf Lakes. It’s safe to say, an amazing time was had by all.

The legendary Thor actor and family attended a demonstration day for licensees and VIPs in September, with one milestone outcome – his son’s first barrel! After speaking with Surf Lakes ambassador, Dean ‘Dingo’ Morrison, Aussie movie star, Chris Hemsworth, came up to Yeppoon for a surf. Joined by friends Luke Munro, Al Emery, and their families, the crew sampled ‘Occy’s Peak’ and ‘The Beachie’ enjoying a swathe of great waves in the Capricorn region. On Instagram Chris said, “Such a fun day sharing waves with my kids and mates at @surf_lakes Incredibly surreal experience getting barrelled in a lake in the middle of the Australian bush!”
When two of Australia’s most promising young talents ventured up to Yeppoon, they had one thing in mind – getting obscenely shacked at Surf Lakes’ slab break ‘The Island’. Safe to say the ensuing session was one of the most entertaining to go down at the lake yet. You can watch the action here.
Ex-pro surfer, and super coach, Andy King (who guided Mick Fanning & Gabriel Medina to world titles), has visited the Yeppoon Surf Lake to explore coaching potential. Overwhelmed by the amazing potential of the facility, ‘Kingy’ said, “you can do in one day, what would take you three months to do in the ocean. As a coach, that’s how productive it would be.”
The Island (Surf Lakes’ infamous slab wave) went viral through the popular action sports website The Inertia, capturing the public’s imagination with a daunting yet mesmerizing slow-mo of the perfect wave in action. For those wondering, the wave in the clip is slightly overhead for most surfers.
