TOM CURREN: SURF LAKES AMBASSADOR
Tom Curren signs on as ambassador and shareholder with Surf Lakes Global.
San Clemente, California – Tom Curren has officially joined the Surf Lakes team.
Three-time world surfing champion, Tom Curren, joins the Surf Lakes team to assist on wave development, testing, and promotion as Surf Lakes rolls out projects across the USA.
An icon of surfing, Curren cemented his legacy in the 80s and 90s as a master of style, on his way to winning 33 tour events and three world titles. With inimitable character and talent as a singer/songwriter, Tom has starred in numerous surf films, released two albums, and remains one of the most recognisable and influential characters in surfing today.
Tom’s next act will see him work with Surf Lakes as the wave technology provider expands into the USA market. The perfect American counterpart to Mark Occhilupo’s Aussie start-up, ‘Occy’, looks forward to finally having his old sparring partner on the same team.
“We’re older now”, explains Occhilupo, “and the rivalry has gone. We’ve been on surf trips together. This time, we are splitting the peak. It’s gonna be just epic!”
Known for his discerning nature and rare alignment with brands, Tom had some sincere words to say about the move.
“This is a very big decision here for me,” said Curren. “So, to be working with yourself [Aaron & the Surf Lakes team], I see something that is going to be a wonderful thing. I think it’s going to add a lot of good stuff to our sport, and I’m looking forward to seeing that in America.”
With Surf Lakes now headquartered in the USA, Tom’s inclusion as a shareholder and ambassador will allow him to advise the team on wave development, testing, promotion, and creative projects.
